Not much of interest to report

27 Aug

Well, except that I’m now living in Atlanta. My son-in-law got a new job here in Atlanta. He started in July (on my birthday coincidentally) and we all moved here. If you follow along with me at all, you know that I telecommute. My physical location has absolutely nothing to do with my ability to perform my job, as long as I have reliable internet service. I’ve informed my employer about the move. It’s a non-issue to them. So that’s that. Hello Atlanta, goodbye rural Arkansas.

I’ve got a new doctor here in Atlanta, of course, who is managing my HRT for me, as well as handling my mundane day-to-day health issues. This is pretty rare, in my experience, for a GP to be willing to handle the HRT as well. Actually, I misspoke when I said doctor. She’s an NP working under a doctor. I really like her. The office also has a separate “skin enhancement clinic”, which does, among a number of other things, laser hair removal. Once we get finances under control from this move, I intend to start laser treatments for my face. It’s going to be about $400 per treatment, with six to eight treatments required. Yes, I went for the consultation.

I’ve had no problems with any sort of discrimination or nastiness here in the two months we’ve been here. I’ve been out and about when called for, and even had a couple of nail appointments with my daughter. Everyone has been accepting, Really, the only problem we’ve had at all has been from Mrs. Grundy, our next door neighbor. No, that’s not her real name. It’s just her character. And even she hasn’t really had anything specific to say about my transition. She’s just a busy body who has nothing better to do than to stick her nose in other people’s business. Our other next door neighbor is sweet, and has been very friendly.

The only time I’ve even had to correct someone was a few days ago when we had new gutters installed on the house. One of the workmen referred to me as ‘sir’ a couple of times, even though I was dressed in skirt and tight t-shirt. (The boobs are B-cup …) After the second time, I told him that I was not a ‘sir’, and he stumbled over a polite apology. It seems he has a cousin in Little Five Points who is a drag queen, and he had made the natural assumption, based on his experience, that I was as well. He learned something from meeting me, and I’m always good with that outcome.

Atlanta traffic is unbelievable. The people actually drive worse than Houstonians, which I would have sworn wasn’t possible, but there it is. Speed is at least ten over the limit, everywhere, and they’ve never heard of safe follow distance. If you don’t adapt and drive just like them, you’re taking your life into your hands to even go out, particularly in rush hour. Though honestly, there never seems to be any time that is not rush hour here.

That’s about it for now. I’ll endeavor to update occasionally, as I settle in here, but let’s face it, I’m a bit of a home body and not much happens in my day to day life.

Congrats on your move! Glad to hear folks have been accepting and open to education! Good to hear an update for you! ((HUGS))

It sounds like Atlanta drivers are similar to California drivers…

From all that I have heard about California drivers, I’d say you are very likely correct. Thanks for dropping by, Amy. I miss you and the kids. Rhytch too, I suppose. 🙂

Us too. The kids ask about you from time to time. I’ll let them know you said “hi” ❤
